Texas Board Requires Engineering Firm Name on Documents Issued by Texas Engineers PDF Print E-mail
Regional News - Texas
Saturday, 19 December 2009 04:41

The Texas Board of Professional Engineers has "passed rules (§137.33 and §137.77) which require all engineering documents released, issued, or submitted by or for a registered engineering firm, including preliminary documents, to clearly indicate the engineering firm name and registration number. It is both the responsibility of the PE that signs and seals a document and the firm that releases the document to verify that the firm name and number appear on the engineering work." The Board will begin active enforcement of these rules as of January 1, 2010. More information can be found on the Board's Frequently Asked Questions Page.

CA Board Adopts NCEES Structural Exams PDF Print E-mail
News - Licensing
Friday, 01 May 2009 00:00

In a 9-0 vote, the California Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors approved the adoption of the new 16-hour NCEES Structural Engineering Examination for use in licensing structural engineers in California beginning in April 2011.  The vote came at the April 15, 2009 meeting of the board (see minutes). The vote came after arguing that developing the 8-hour California state-specific examination currently costs between $2,000 and $3,000 per candidate.  The current 8-hour NCEES SE II examination costs the Board $800 per examination.  For applicants, this is likely a welcome development as it enhances uniformity nationwide and removes a convenient excuse to deny comity applications.
