How are we doing?

Welcome to FBPE

The Florida Legislature found that it was necessary in the interest of public health and safety to regulate the practice of engineering in the State of Florida and thus created Chapter 471, Florida Statutes, the Engineering Registration Law. Under this law the Florida Board of Professional Engineers is responsible for reviewing applications, administering examinations, licensing qualified applicants, and regulating the practice of engineering throughout the state.

Welcome to Renewal 2009

All Professional Engineers should have received a Renewal Form. An error in dates has come to our attention. Your present license expires February 28, 2009. You are renewing prior to that date to maintain your license for the licensing cycle of March 1, 2009 through February 28, 2011. We apologize for any confusion in dates referenced on the renewal forms.

As Executive Director of the Florida Board of Professional Engineers, I understand the importance of the Professional Engineer to be compliant with continuing education requirements and to maintain a license in good standing.

As President of the Florida Engineers Management Corporation, I am aware of FEMC’s responsibility to take whatever measures are necessary to ensure a smooth renewal for all licensees.  Following the 2007 renewal, we have taken proactive steps to implement a detailed plan for the 2009 renewal.    To achieve the goals set forth in the renewal plan, we have employed additional staff, purchased computers, phones and all other equipment.

To accomplish the goals of a smooth renewal, however, it takes more than personnel or equipment.  Advanced planning must occur and you must have knowledgeable staff in charge.

For the first time we have a Manager of Renewal,   Frances Ingram, who will be assisted by Sean Benjamin, CE Licensure Analyst.  We are approaching the 2009 renewal with confidence in our renewal plan.

It is FEMC’s obligation to provide efficient, effective and timely renewal of each license.  We encourage you to visit the portal and familiarize yourself with the steps required for this renewal period.  If you experience problems on the portal, please do not hesitate to contact our office.

When you receive your renewal notice, you will note a fee holiday that was approved by the Board. The renewal fee for 2009 is waived; however, the $5.00 payment of the statutorily required unlicensed activity fee remains. Once you have paid that fee and completed all required continuing education you can renew your license ONLINE.

Please help us make this the most efficient and smooth renewal to date. We look forward to serving each and every one of you in the next few weeks and months.
