Those who looked forward to the presentations on California Building Code amendments were in for a great disappointment: the presentations were cancelled. These presentations were scheduled as part of an entire session titled “California Building Code Amendments” slated for Saturday, May 19, 2007 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. during Structures Congress 2007 in Long Beach, California. Both presentations were replaced with presentations on unrelated subjects. The conference proceedings do not provide any relief here as they did not contain any information on the subject.
With the new IBC-based California Building Code scheduled to become effective July 2007, it is difficult to justify missing the opportunity to present the amendments at the Structures Congress. It is more difficult to justify a no show especially when some congress registrants could have attended, possibly because of such a session.
